Difference between wheel box and reducer

Generally speaking, there is no difference between a reducer and a gearbox, but they are called differently. They all refer to the same thing. In fact, it can't be completely equivalent. A reducer is a reducer with a motor installed. It is called a reducer motor, or a three in one reducer (including a motor, reducer, and brake). However, in general speaking, the reducer and reducer refer to the same thing by default. Reducers and reducers can be divided into gear reducers, worm reducers and planetary reducers, or gear reducers, worm reducers and planetary gear reducers.

The gearbox is divided into reduction gearbox, speed increase gearbox and speed change gearbox. The reducer is one of the reduction gear boxes. However, the reducer should also include the reducer with non gear transmission (or completely non gear transmission). As long as the reduction effect can be achieved, gear transmission may not be used. Chain wheels, belt pulleys, etc. can be used for reduction transmission. In this case, the reducer cannot be completely equivalent to the gearbox. Because the transmission efficiency of the gearbox is higher than that of other transmission methods, and the transmission ratio is accurate, the reducer is usually manufactured by gear transmission, so it is customary to regard the reducer and gearbox as one thing.

To sum up, because the reducer is equipped with a motor reducer, the gearbox is manufactured by gear transmission in most cases. So it is customary to regard reducer, gearbox and reducer as a kind of thing. Unless there are special requirements in practical application, there are slight differences. For example, the elevator you take uses a reducer, and the car uses a gearbox.
